Cavaliers are gentle, pint-sized bundles of tail-wagging joy with intelligent, twinkling eyes. Friendly people oriented dogs eager to learn and easily trained, the Cavalier is an ideal companion for families with young children and other pets. Our parents dogs are AKC / CKC OFA cardiac clear and patellas good
Cavapoo's - such a wonderful cross of two great breeds resulting in a great family member that usually inherits the low/non shed coat characteristic of the poodle with out the extra curly hair type. Plus the benefit of hybrid vigor as a mix. With our blue merle poodle we also get some very pretty and unusual colors in the cavapoos as well as the cockapoos
We inherited a couple smaller cocker spaniel girls when a friend died. so will have the occasional cockapoo pups.
Our King Charles cavaliers are a mix of Irish import and American bloodlines. We see all 4 colors at times. Poodles range 6 to 15 lbs - no fancy bloodlines just wonderful easy going companions with good genetics checks. Our poodles and cavaliers have good cardiac checks - a concern in the cavalier as well as good patella checks (more the poodle but any small breed ) . the hybrid cross helps insure good health as hybrid vigor is a real thing.
We have the occasional litter of Dobermans. We are down 9 generations over the past 40 plus years. Mostly to keep one of our own as the we have been unable to acquire anything close to the temperament, intelligence and looks combination by buying others dogs. The last 4 generations have been dual purpose best friends and constant companions as service dogs going every where with us. We've spent thousands trying find outside bloodlines and have not been happy. Although we have managed to add the occasional impressive fellow to not become inbred - all I can say is it has been hard to keep the standard we've set. AKC - OFA hips - cardiac checks - DNA tested DCM ( Dilated cardiomyopathy ) CLEAR - VwD ( bleeding disorder ) - PRA ( progressive retinal atrophy ) clear DM ( degenerative myelopathy - a spinal cord disease that leads to paralysis) and more - all to insure the best health. we have a mix of American and European bloodlines.
Temperament is first and foremost since what good is a gorgeous healthy dog if you can't live with it. We breed for a well rounded dog without sacrificing looks nor genetic health. These are intelligent loving people oriented family companions. Our main focus is easy going intelligent family dogs. Although most have found homes as loyal companions to their families, many of our pups have gone to PTSD vets - children in wheelchairs or with autism or Asperger - severely depressed folks - medical alert while many more double as therapy or visitation dogs.
All pups are born and reside in the house. As such they are well socialized to the cats as well as non-mom adults. Our pups are handed every day of their lives, not just a quick hug but exposed to a wide variety of stimuli as they grow. They will have the inside of their mouths and tongue touched to get pups used to having things removed from their mouths as needed (while this is good for play and return on fetch it is much more important for the possibly of having to remove something dangerous like old foil and bones someone tossed out). Their feet are handled daily in addition toenail trimmings started young to get them used to it well before it is needed. They will experience multiple levels and types of noises that vary with the radio or TV on all day tuned to talk stations or classical music. Their play pen is near the window in the hustle and bustle of everyday life plus they really do watch the coming and going at the bird feeder. The cat big goof that he is likes to play and sleep with pups so they are socialized to cats as well as non mom big dogs. Your pup will have vaccinations started and up to date as well as routine parasite control from an early age. We are retired military and very much enjoy our dogs with a limited number of litters yearly as enjoyable hobby. Our dogs get to enjoy 40 fenced acres with ponds and creeks to play in when outside with us.
